Winter 2025 Virtual California Naturalist & Climate Stewards Instructor Training

California Naturalist: February 3, 5, 10, 21, and 24, 9:00am-12:00pm 

Climate Stewards: February 3, 5, 10, 12*, 19, 21, 24, and 26, 9:00am-12:00pm 

*Wednesday, February 12's session will be from 9:00am-1:00pm

This training is a mandatory introduction for new partner organizations who have completed a partner interest form and have initiated plans together with the UC Environmental Stewards team to offer a course. For our existing established partner programs, this training is optional for any new instructors that are part of your team, and strongly requested of any instructors who have not attended a training within the last 3 years.

Cost

California Naturalist: $275/person

Climate Stewards: $495/person

Time Commitment

California Naturalist: 24 hours of asynchronous training material and 16 hours of synchronous training sessions

Climate Stewards: 24 hours of asynchronous training material and 26 hours of synchronous training sessions

Attendance

Instructors must complete all asynchronous materials prior to the beginning of the training and attend all synchronous sessions.

There will be a required Instructor Training Kick Off webinar on January 8. 

Training Staff

The training team includes UC Environmental Stewards staff, with support from experienced program instructors and local experts.

Asynchronous Materials

Prior to each class session registrants will receive materials for asynchronous review. To maximize our meeting time, we have prepared these materials with essential information about the California Naturalist and Climate Stewards programs. These materials will be referenced throughout the face to face sessions, so please be sure to review and complete all assignments.

Additionally, we recommend participants become familiar with the UC Environmental Stewards website and the UC California Naturalist Handbook and the UC Climate Stewards Handbook that serve as textbooks for the programs, respectively.
