This training is a mandatory introduction for new partner organizations who have completed a partner interest form and have initiated plans together with the California Naturalist program team to offer the course. For our existing established partner programs, this training is optional for any new instructors that are part of your team, and strongly requested of any instructors who have not attended a training within the last 3 years.

Cost & Accommodations: $85 per person. This includes 2 all-day workshops, as well as lunch and light breakfast for both days. Travel, room and board not included. Click here for hotel recommendations from UCANR.

Attendance: Instructors must attend both sessions and review and complete any asynchronous materials.

Registration and payment: We are now hosting registrations for instructor trainings through the volunteer portal. Space is limited and organizations that are currently planning courses with the California Naturalist Program in 2023 -2024 will be given priority for participation. To receive the link to register, please reach out to etfreutel@ucanr.edu.

Once you complete your registration, you will be given a link to a payment survey. PLEASE NOTE that your attendance is tentative until we receive payment.

Training organizers: The training team includes California Naturalist Program staff, with support from experienced program instructors and local experts.

Asynchronous materials: Prior to each class session registrants will receive materials for asynchronous review. To maximize our meeting time, we have prepared these materials with essential information to learn about the CalNat program and ensure a successful course. We will reference them in the face to face sessions, so please be sure to look over all materials.

Additionally, we recommend participants become familiar with the UC California Naturalist website and the UC California Naturalist Handbook that serves as the textbook for the program. The Handbook is not included in the workshop cost. Click here for 30% off.
