Santa Monica Mountains Fund

Course Description

SAMO Fund is excited to be partnering with UC Environmental Stewards to bring you the California Naturalist course.

This certifiable and credited course will allow interested individuals to participate in service learning and stewardship of natural resources in the Santa Monica Mountains. Lead by NPS Rangers, JOEY ALGIERS, CATHY SCHOONMAKER, KATHERINE PAKRADOUNI, and RAZSA CRUZ, as well as SAMO Fund’s Executive Director, DEANNA ARMBRUSTER, students will experience in detail the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, the flora, fauna, and cultural significance through field trips and virtual lectures. They will learn about preservation and restoration efforts in the area and become better communicators of natural history with hands-on experience performing service in education and interpretation.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of the SMMNRA.
