Support California Naturalist
"The California Naturalist class was a grand adventure. It was an experience that redirected my life.”
Making a difference: Building community
UC California Naturalist strives to introduce the public to the wonders of our unique ecology and engage participants in the stewardship of California’s natural communities.
Since 2012, we've certified over 1800 California Naturalists who have logged over 100,000 volunteer hours. In 2016, 24% of our course participants and 21% of statewide conference attendees received a need-based scholarship to attend courses and training events. The California Naturalist Program plays an essential role in California’s future by fostering a new era of citizen involvement in environmental stewardship and civic engagement.
We welcome your support to help build our program and scholarship funds. You are a philanthropist no matter how much or how little you give! Thank you for making the California Naturalist experience impactful and inclusive.
Two funds, one mission: to foster a diverse community of naturalists and promote stewardship of California's natural resources through education and service.
Program fund: Enduring Support
Your support to the program fund is particularly important during these formative years as we develop fundamental resources and partnerships to better serve California’s human and natural communities. Keeping the tailored curriculum rich and up to date, organizing in-person convenings essential to building a community of practice, and developing opportunities for life-long learning are a few of the backbone infrastructures made possible by donors like you.
Scholarship Fund: Achieving Inclusion
We need your support to build an inclusive community of naturalists. This scholarship-specific fund will help break down barriers that many students, young, and low-income people face in accessing environmental education and workforce training opportunities. This fund is used to off-set the California Naturalist Program's course participation costs for people who could benefit from a scholarship to become a certified California Naturalist.
