Chico Creek Nature Center

Course Description

The California Naturalist course will immerse you in the wonders of natural history in the Big Chico Creek watershed, the foothills of the cascade mountains, the north valley, and the state as a whole. The 40 hour course offers presentations and discussions, field trips and project-based learning in the context of a science curriculum. It seeks to foster eco-literacy and a committed corps of naturalists and citizen scientists ready to take an active role in conservation, education, and restoration. We hope to inspire you to connect more deeply with the natural world.

Due to concerns over COVID-19, this California Naturalist certification course has been postponed until further notice. We'll update all California Naturalist courses when new dates are determined. Postponed courses may already be partially-mostly full due to prior enrollment.

Organization Description: The Chico Creek Nature Center serves as the official information and education center for Bidwell Park. Offering the public: park maps and directions, guided walks, family programs, camps and a chance to meet our collection of living animals. We are also a resource for regional schools, providing many standards aligned field trip options and professional development programs including Project WILD and Project Learning Tree for teachers and informal educators alike.
