Jepson Herbarium at UC Berkeley
The Jepson Herbarium at the University of California, Berkeley will be offering their next UC California Naturalist certification training in 2019. The UC California Naturalist Program promotes environmental literacy and stewardship through discovery and action. The Jepson Herbarium's California Naturalist classes will meet at UC Berkeley on evenings and several Saturday field trips will also occur.
Aspiring Naturalists enroll in a 40-hour course that combines classroom and field experience in science, problem-solving, communication training and community service to explore the unique ecology and natural history of the bay area. In addition to the coursework, California Naturalists will be encouraged to complete 40 hours of volunteer service in one of four areas: program support, interpretation/education, restoration/conservation and/or citizen science. Upon completing certification requirements, participants are eligible for four academic credits through UC Davis Extension for an additional nominal fee.
Be sure to check out the Jepson Herbarium's fantastic Advanced Training line-up too! Certified California Naturalists receive a special discount on courses.
