• Project Purpose (taken from project materials)

  As a baseline for monitoring these changes, the Bay Area BioAtlas seeks to build reserve-level Species Guides of where the Bay Area's unique plants and animals persist and where they are absent, as they shift in response to land use and climate change; To coordinate with Calflora's library of 21,000 checklists to ensure these valuable distribution data are available to conservationists.

  Contributed reserve plant checklists and citizen-science confirmations will be archived at Calflora to be available to conservationists.
  Data also contributes to building Species Guides for Northern California reserves,  to Conservation Lands Network reports, and is posted online, at the project page and through iNaturalist.

• Other Information

  The Conservation Lands Network is a five-year science-based study by over 125 organizations and individuals tasked to identify the most essential lands needed to sustain biological diversity. Primary partners for this project include iNaturalist.org, CalFlora, and the Pepperwood Preserve.
  The Conservation Lands Network was developed by the Upland Habitat Goals Project, led by the Bay Area Open Space Council, with is a collaborative of member organizations actively involved in permanently protecting and stewarding important parks, trails and agricultural lands in the ten-county San Francisco Bay Area.
